Neo-Cons, Fundies, Feddies, and Con-Artists
Francis Boyle, Perdana Peace Forum
It is now a matter of public record that immediately after the terrible
tragedy of 11 September 2001, U.S. Secretary of War Donald Rumsfeld and his
pro-Israeli "Neoconservative" Deputy Paul Wolfowitz began to plot, plan,
scheme and conspire to wage a war of aggression against Iraq by
manipulating the tragic events of September 11th in order to provide a
pretext for doing so.1 Of course Iraq had nothing at all to do with
September 11th ! or supporting Al-Qaeda . But that made no difference to
Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, their Undersecretary of War Douglas Feith,
Undersecretary of State John Bolton, and the numerous other pro-Israeli
Neo-Cons inhabiting the Bush Jr. administration...

ANOTHER UNREPORTED REPORT
Malcom Lagauche
On March 16, 2004, a report (Iraq on the Record) was published. It was the
compilation of public statements made by various U.S. government officials
about Iraq that later were proven to be false. Because of the large size of
the report, only portions are included here. These encapsulations prove the
deceit of the administration in its justification for invading Iraq. There
has been little publicity of this report. What should make it damning is
that it was prepared by a ! U.S. Congressman, Henry Waxman, who voted in
favor of invading Iraq. The report is concise and comprehensive. The
writers compiled a database of the hundreds of misleading statements and
outright lies told by the administration...

Pale Fire
The White Death of Fallujah
CHRIS FLOYD
Last month, the broadcast of a shattering new documentary provided fresh
confirmation of a gruesome war crime covered by this column nine months
ago: the use of chemical weapons by American forces during the frenzied,
Bush-ordered destruction of Fallujah in November 2004. Using filmed and
photographic evidence, eyewitness accounts, and the direct testimony of
American soldiers who took part in the attacks, the documentary -
"Fallujah: The Hidden Massacre! " - catalogues the American use of white
phosphorous shells and a new, "improved" form of napalm that turned human
beings into "caramelized" fossils, with their skin dissolved and turned to
leather on their bones. The film was produced by RAI, the Italian state
network run by a government that backed the war. Vivid images show
civilians, including women and children, who had been burned alive in their
homes, even in their beds...

McCain-Bush “anti-torture” measure gives legal cover for continued abuse
Joe Kay and Barry Grey, WSWS
The agreement reached between the Bush White House and Senator John McCain
on a measure ostensibly banning torture does nothing of the kind. The
official disavowal of "cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment" of alleged
terrorists held by the US is a ploy to cover up Washington’s past defiance
of international laws banning torture and provide a pseudo-legal cover for
the continuation of the same methods. The very f! act that the US
government is obliged to make a public disavowal of torture is a damning
indictment of Washington’s lawless methods...

A night at the opera
We're lost in the music, and cannot hear the words
John Kaminski
...We are drowning in the widening abyss between what they say is going on
and what is actually going on, and we need to eradicate that gap, or we
will perish. That's the deal. If the dogma on which the thought is based is
flawed, then the thought itself cannot be anything but flawed. This is
exactly why Americans continue to bomb innocent people in Iraq, and many
other places in the world. Corporations are k! illing humanity for profit.
And most of the people in the world agree to be in on the gig (...) It's a
tough pill to swallow, admittedly. Crossing that thought boundary and
finally understanding that the U.S. government cares so little about you
that it would deliberately kill 3,000 people in the middle of New York City
and then blame it on Muslims so it could later bomb them. It's a picture of
America most people are afraid to look at. But after New Orleans, it’s
getting a lot less hard to. Perhaps the Americans’ willingness to confront
that immediate demon is the key to the future. Because if we don't, and
soon, we won't have one...

American imperialism is the problem, not merely Bush’s neo-conservatism
Iqbal Siddiqui
The answer to anyone who ever doubted the value of the on-going resistance
against the US occupation of Iraq was demonstrated last month, as the tide
of opinion in America appeared to have turned decisively against George W.
Bush and his neo-conservative administration and policies. After years in
which the spectre of terrorism and appeals to US patriotism have enabled
the neo-conservative clique in the White House to impose th! eir agenda on
US politics, and by extension the rest of the world, opposition politicians
finally found their voices last month, emboldened by the increasing anger
of the American people...

Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, Iran’s influential former president, on Friday

The Purple Ink Revolution
Wafaa' Al-Natheema
...The amount of coverage TV/radio channels and Satellites that was spent
on the Iraqi elections including the daily debates between candidates was
beyond hilarious and disappointing. It has been disappointing because
spending so much time on it by Arab media (and other international media)
means that they legitimized yet another product of the American/British
occupiers and killers as well as of the Iranian/Israeli opportunists and
assassins. Two days prior to electio! ns, Thousands of forged ballots were
seized by the Iraqi police in a tanker entering IRAQ from Iran! Bush's
elections are our role-model. Little do Iraqis (Egyptians, Palestinians and
others) know that elections in the industrial west have become (and perhaps
were created) insignificant to occupy the public and mislead them into
believing that there is democracy and fair representation!...

Unprecedented interview with the Commander of the Iraqi National Resistance
Mr. Izzat al Duri!
Al-Moharer
The magazine al Majd is utterly happy to be the only and unique information
tribune chosen by the Comrade Mujahid Izzat al Duri, the Commander of the
Heroic and Victorious Iraqi Resistance, to make the first press declaration
after the tendentious rumors which aimed first and above all at sowing
confusion into the ranks of the Resistance and weakening its morale. But
cursed always be the enemies and the stoog! es, and to hell what they have
been hatching and weaving. Here is the Leader (Abu Ahmad) appearing from Al
Majd tribune, as strong as ever, healthy, capable and resolute to snatch
victory, to defeat the occupier, and to liberate the total soil of the Land
of the Two Rivers...

coalition in the national assembly that can protect the rights of Iraqis,"
Adnan Al-Dulaimi, the leader of the main Sunni election coalition National

Clandestine conduct of Italian troops in Iraq recorded- Video
Aljazeera.com
...A television group owned by Silvio Berlusconi, the Italian Prime
Minister, plans to show an embarrassing documentary on the clandestine
conduct of Italian troops in IRAQ, after it censored it for three days, the
company officials stated earlier this week. The footage, recorded by
Italian troops deployed in Iraq in August 2004 in the southern Iraqi city
of Nasiriyah shows a fierce firefight between Italian occupation forces and
Shia fig! hters. In the 10-minutes film, an Italian patrol appears
returning fire after being attacked. Then it shows one soldier shouting:
"See that one running, take him out," and another saying "Look at that
bastard moving, get him"...

A.N.S.W.E.R. Responds to UFPJ: Our Position on Unity in the AntiWar Movement
A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition Steering Committee
Ten weeks after the September 24 demonstration brought more than 300,000
people to Washington DC in a massive show of strength by a united antiwar
movement, the leadership of the United for Peace and Justice (UFPJ) has
publicly announced its unilateral intention to effect a long-term split in
the antiwar movement. This is the second time in seven months that UFPJ has
publicly proclaimed its inten! tion to split the movement, coupled with a
false and ugly attack on the A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition...

Iraqi Police Shoot Ambulance Driver
Alive in Baghdad
In this Video from ANN, an Arabic news station, you will see Iraqi Police
officers shoot an unarmed Ambulance driver. After viewing this video it may
be difficult to question the preparedness of the Iraqi Police. Particularly
their willingness to provide loyalty to a central state government seems
unlikely. After the unfolding cases of torture and abuse at the hands of
the Iraqi Police, this event seems almost unsurprising...

Torture Hovers Over Poll - Inter Press Service
Brian Conley and Omar Abdullah
...Few in Iraq doubt that the interim government detains and tortures
people. Influential Sunnis and people on the street alike have complained
to the central government about secret prisons all over Iraq — particularly
in Baghdad. Ali Shalal Abbas from the Association of Victims of American
Occupation Prisons told IPS there are "over 200 secret prisons in Iraq,
which operate under the control of various parties and ministries." Most
of! the prisons are believed to be under the command of the ministry of the
interior. The Association members visited the UN office in Amman Nov. 20,
and provided them with details of seven secret prisons, all supervised by
the ministry of the interior...

"Cruel, inhuman, and degrading"
Eli , Left I on the News
...Was it cruel and inhuman to imprison Jose Padilla in solitary
confinement for 3 1/2 years without charges? How about Iraqi General Amer
al-Saadi, who surrendered voluntarily to the Americans, only to spend the
next 2 1/2 years (and counting) in solitary confinement, again without
charges, a man not even suspected or accused of any violent acts (not that
Padilla was ever formally accused either, press conferences not qualifying
as legal proceedings)? Was ! his treatment "cruel and inhuman"? I know if
someone did that to me, I'd certainly think so. How about the hundreds of
prisoners in Guantanamo, illegally imprisoned in dog cages, without legal
rights and often without their families knowing where they are? Cruel and
inhuman? How could it not be?...

Who’s Lying About Iraq?
Bob Murphy
In a recent article, "Who Is Lying About Iraq?" Norman Podhoretz takes the
interesting position that George Bush has been completely upfront in his
handling of the conflict, and that the conventional wisdom that he "lied us
into war" is a complete fabrication by his political enemies (...) Upon
reflection (and some investigation), I cling to the conventional wisdom
that George Bush lied us into war...

Karen Kwiatkowski
...After well over three years of lying, prevaricating, misleading, and

livelihoods of tens of thousands of Iraqis and Americans at a healthy
20-to-1 ratio, and after the unprecedented destruction of Iraq’s
infrastructure, let the record show, on December 14, 2005, Dubya said "I am
