WE BROKE IT, WE OWN IT ?!!!
Owatica
...The RESPONSIBILITY and absolute OBLIGATION of the American People now is
to DEMAND withdrawal of all U.S. military from Iraq and do whatever is
necessary to impeach the Bush/Cheney "administration" and hold fully
accountable all politicians and corporations who have perpetrated these
horrendous WAR CRIMES. The people of the world must realize the attack upon
Iraq was a full frontal attack upon ALL HUMANITY in the guise of a "war on
t! error" or an "attack upon Islam" or "blood for oil" (...) If we, the
people of the world, are spared utter destruction, we will have the
profoundly courageous and indomitable Iraqi people to thank for it. Only
their determination to defend themselves and fight back against all odds,
has finally alerted at least some of the people in the U.S. and around the
world to what is actually taking place in Iraq and the implications of the
attack and occupation, not only for the Iraqi people but for all of us...

Sanctions, War, Occupation and the De-Development of Education in Iraq
Agustin Velloso
In August 1990, the United Nations Security Council imposed economic
sanctions on Iraq. These ended in May 2003. Ever since that same month, in
which the war launched by Coalition Forces against Iraq ended, the country
has been under occupation. The education system, one of the best in the
Arab world 15 years ago, has been seriously affected by both the sanctions
and the war. The present study explores how these factors have re! versed
previous educational achievements and rendered the education system unable
to fulfil its missions. It also shows how continued instability and
widespread violence gravely impede the reconstruction of the education
system. In sum, while the Iraqis themselves are now responsible, under
international law, for deciding on and implementing reconstruction
policies, this has still not been taking place under occupation...

Torture, Racism, & the Sovereign Presidency
Herbert P. Bix, Z Magazine
President George W. Bush has embedded murder, assassination, torture, and
mistreatment of prisoners into the structure of the U.S. system of global
domination. Many U.S. citizens, rightly outraged, want to know why this
sort of barbaric, sadistic violence has become an integral part of U.S.
security policy, and what the Administration’s justification of torture
means institutionally for the future governance of this country. Above all,
they wa! nt to know how Bush has been able to avoid impeachment for
committing high crimes...

DUBOIS WAS RIGHT
Malcom Lagauche
...Michael Klare, professor of peace and world security studies at
Hampshire College, added, "Controlling Iraq is about oil as power, rather
than oil as fuel. Control over the Persian Gulf translates into control
over Europe, Japan, and China. It’s like having our hand on the spigot."
Now, it becomes even more clear why the U.S. had to invade Iraq. It was for
total domination, not for the ouster of a regime or the destruction of
invisible weapons. The Portuguese writer and Nobel l! aureate, Jose
Saramago said, "We are marching against the law of the jungle that the
United States and its acolytes old and new want to impose on the world"...

Only six months ago Fallujah was proclaimed "the safest place in Iraq" ...
It will never be for the occupiers.
Imad Khadduri, Free Iraq
"The US military has launched an operation ["Operation Scimitar"] against
insurgents around Fallujah only six months after its officials proclaimed
the city "the safest place in Iraq". The initiative, launched on Thursday
but publicised only at the weekend, involved hundreds of marines supported
by 100 Iraqi soldiers sweeping through the fertile farmland and villages
south of ! the city." (Americans begin new offensive in Fallujah July 11,
2005 )
Two 'samples' of what is NOT reported in "Operation Scimitar":
- "Two suicide car bombers attacked on Monday [July 11, 2005] an American
military convoy close to Khan Dhari [halfway to Fallujah from Baghdad] near
Zaidan village where "Operation Scimitar" is taking place...

London Bombings - 'We are all ...."
Felicity Arbuthnot and Luci Carolan
The innocent always bear the scars, suffer the ultimate sacrifice, of
mistaken political policies. However, the sadness of the deaths and
casualties of 7/7 have been compounded by the reckless language of lawyers
who should know better. Prime Minister Blair and Foreign Secreatry Jack
Straw near instantly pointed the finger in intemporate language, at Islam.
The pieces, the injured, the bodies and body parts were still being
treated, accounte! d for and retrieved - there is no evidence as to who
committed these acts. 'Guilty until proved innocent' is a new facet to
British justice...

Shia, Kurds, and the Iraqi Government
Raed Jarrar, Raed in the Middle
... The Kurdish representatives in the so-called constitutional committee
are having a big problem digesting the fact that Iraq is a part of the Arab
nation! Al-Sharq al-Awsat also says that the Kurds are rejecting any
language in the constitution that recognizes Iraq as "part of the Arab
nation." I hear Jalal Talabani, the Kurdish president, on al-Jazeera a
couple of days ago, making the argument that the Iraqi state is part of the
Arab n! ation but that the Iraqi people are multicultural and not
necessarily Arabs. These Kurds who are objecting appear to have a harder
line on the issue than Talabani. This shameful and separatist strategy
adopted by the Kurdish leaders won't lead to anything more than internal
clashes and problems in the north of Iraq. Talbani doesn't believe in Iraq
as a country, he refuses to recognize the Iraqi flag, and his only interest
in the current government is to break Iraq apart...

"Blood On The Tracks -- The London Bombings
Grace Reid
Today's UK Independent is full of it... speculation about who might be
responsible for the London bombings on the 7th of July. Today they are
exploring not one, but FIVE theories as to who might be responsible (...)
At the same time that the Independent is straining its brain to figure out
who might have done it, Tony Blair has said he will not hold a government
inquiry.... not yet, anyways (...) Tony Blair will on Monday reject
Conservative demands for a ! government inquiry into last week's London
bomb attacks, insisting such a move would distract from the task of
catching the perpetrators ...

Blame and Bomb Iran
Kurt Nimmo, Another Day in the Empire
It’s possible al-Zarqawi is simply a temporary landmark on the
super-highway leading to the bombing of Iran. As noted earlier here, Abu
the Terrible Phantom was cited as the mastermind behind the London
bombings, but beyond scaring children and middle class Americans (same
difference intellectually) this tenuous linkage is not really good for much
except making Americans and Britons hate and fear Muslims. Neocons will
want to get more mileage out of the de! ad and maimed people in London, so
the linkage game will switch to high gear. “Iran may be bracing for the
results of the analysis of the explosives used in the London bombings,”
writes Wayne Madsen. “If it is discovered that RDX/C4 [allegedly produced
at the Bofors chemical plant in Esfahan] was used, the neo cons will point
to allegations that Iran possesses a disproportionate amount of RDX/C4. The
neo con spin machine will then rapidly switch from Al Qaeda to Iran”...

If a Mob Boss Says to a Hit Man, "Kill Jim Smith's Wife," Can He Claim He
Didn't Order the Murder Because He Didn't Mention Her Name? Apparently,
That's Karl Rove's Thinking.
A BUZZFLASH EDITORIAL
We've warned BuzzFlash readers not to get too overjoyed about the reports
of Karl Rove being nailed as one of the two people who outed Valerie Plame
as a CIA operative specializing in tracking the illicit sales of WMD at a
time that he was orchestrating the propaganda to start a war based on a
nation possessing illicit ! WMD (which they didn't actually possess). It is
so monstrously treasonous -- such a big lie and betrayal -- that it is hard
to believe. But it is, apparently, true...

Timely terrorism: Death and destruction knock Bush's woes off the front pages
Kéllia Ramares, Online Journal Associate Editor
...But is this "timely terrorism" perpetrated by criminals run by US and or
British covert ops to distract attention from George W. Bush's political
woes? In looking at major alleged terrorist attacks or threats of such
attacks, it is critical to watch how Bush is fairing politically. The
Downing Street Memos indicate that Bush wanted war in Iraq well before
September 11, 2001, and that "t! he facts were being fixed around the
policy." A Zogby survey of likely voters, taken after Bush's "recruitment"
speech at Ft. Bragg, shows that 42 percent of voters believe that Bush
should be impeached if he lied to get us into war. (Margin of error was
plus or minus 3.3 percent)...

London bombings and the 'war on terrorism' consensus
Larry Chin, Online Journal Associate Editor
Gauging initial official reactions, it appears that the London bombings
will bring the "war on terrorism" back to the forefront—and back in line
with the original (9–11-created, pre-Iraq conquest) elite propaganda
consensus that neocon and neoliberal factions can agree upon. This itself
may be the most dangerous long-term aspect of the London event. Bush's "bad
move" into Iraq has always been viewed as a political pro! blem that
distracted from the "war on terrorism," and the Iraq scandals (Downing
Street Papers, CIA-Plame, etc.) and "Iraq mismanagement" may still be the
Bush administration's ultimate political undoing...

By any spin necessary
Why imperialist spokesmen are distancing the London bombings from the Iraq war
GAVIN GATENBY
One of the surprises of the London bombings has been the line taken by
prominent imperialist spokesmen. Tony Blair, Charles Clarke, John Reid,
Condoleezza Rice and John Howard have all been careful to say, or imply,
that the bombings were not specifically related to their nations’ invasion
and occupation of Iraq. At first glance, this is a bizarre position, but on
further reflection! the reason for it is obvious...

World Tribunal on Iraq
Ustan B. Reinart, Z Magazine
I just returned from Istanbul, where I attended the last sitting of the
World Tribunal on Iraq (WTI) and heard three days of testimony from
researchers, scientists, and witnesses from all over the world (including
Iraq) on crimes against humanity and against this planet—for detailed
information see <http://www.worldtribunal.org >www.worldtribunal.org (...)
The tribunal has judged and condemned the U.S. and its allies. It has
defined t! his war as one of the most unjust in history, and has
established charges against the Security Council of the UN for failing to
stop war crimes and crimes against humanity, among other failures...

The war on terror has failed.
HackerJournal
...Let's pretend that there is indeed a terrorist group named Al Qaeda and
that it was indeed responsible for the events of 9/11 and of the events of
7/7. Let's go ahead and pretend that Osama Bin Laden is their leader and
let's pretend that they "hate our way of life". If I grant all of these
things to the powers-that-be, such as the mass media and the government,
the attack in London on 7/7 can only lead to one conclusion: the war on
terror that was launched in the da! ys that followed 9/11 is not working.
Attacking Afghanistan and displacing the Taliban has not weakened the
terrorists. Attacking Iraq, which had nothing to do with 9/11 and did not
have any kind of Muslim extremism until Saddam Hussein was deposed and
replaced with a sock puppet American government, did not deter the
terrorists...

To Mr. George Galloway
Wafaa' Al-Natheema,
Since I've met with you in London last fall and recorded my interview with
you, I have been meaning to contact you regarding a variety of issues
including the matter of inviting you to a conference in the USA. Again it
registered in my mind to contact you this last June after I watched your
testimonial video of the hearing that took place in the USA on May 17,
during which I was in IRAQ. I can not tell you how proud I felt watching
you nail down and triumphantly challeng! e the American politician
examiners and investigators. I solute you for your sharp courage,
persistence and determination. Still I couldn't contact you immediately
after I viewed that video, but now following the unfortunate London
bombings on Thursday (July 7), I have no choice but to write immediately,
as these attacks left no more room for postponement...

DNC begins Rove assault: What did Rove know and when did he know it

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi Does London
Kurt Nimmo, Another Day in the Empire
Actually, I am surprised it took this long: Abu Musab al-Zarqawi—the stuff
of legend and ambiguous news reports based on third-hand information and
wild supposition—is responsible for the London attacks last week.
“Investigators in London are probing whether Iraqi explosives—possibly
provided by Al-Qaeda’s top agent in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi—were used in
last week’s terror bombings,” reports Yahoo News (...) Nobody knows if
al-Zarqawi act! ually did it—same as they don’t know anything else about
the mercurial terrorist—but it makes sense to blame him the same way he is
blamed for poison attacks in Europe, releasing a chemical cloud in Amman,
700 plus murders in Iraq during the occupation, the Canal Hotel bombing of
the U.N. headquarters in Baghdad (killing the UN Secretary-general’s
special Iraqi envoy Sergio Vieira de Mello), and various sundry murders...
