Dear Mr. President,

In April, two serious incidents happened that underscore human
fallibility: On April 1, a Chinese military jet collided with a
U.S. spy plane, with both countries blaming each other for the
collision. And on April 20, a Peruvian fighter, guided by a
Peruvion officer on a U.S. surveillance plane, downed a missionary
family's plane, killing the mother and her infant daughter,
mistaking them as drug runners. The Peruvian Air Force claims they
failed to file a flight plan, but the husband and the pilot insist
that they had filed the plan.

Such accidents and misunderstandings are bound to happen one
day involving nuclear weapons unless we abolish them. To save our
children and future generations from an unimaginable catastrophe,
please take the lead in reaching an agreement among all the nuclear
weapons nations to disable all their nuclear weapons.

     Sincerely,

[Your name, post address & country]
