CALL FOR HELP TO STOP CRIMES AND GENOCIDES
Abdul Wahab Al Obeidi, BRussells Tribunal
A group of people representing the people of Hadeetha are calling all
humanitarian NGOs to put an end to genocides and crimes practiced against
them by the occupation forces and government-backed forces. Joining forces
with the good people of Iraq, we, Freedom Voice, call on all NGOs and Human
Rights committees - had there been such a thing as HUMAN RIGHTS in this
volatile world – to see for themselves the military offensives whi! ch have
been waged by the US forces in collaboration with Al-Ja’fari government
against the Iraqi town of Hadeetha.

The United States is a psychopath
Xymphora
One of the many benefits of the Bush Administration is that it
demonstrates, over and over again, just how big a bunch of hypocrites
Americans are. The United States has always been involved in attacking
sovereign countries. Iraq is novel only in the fact that it was done out in
the open, in blatant contravention of international law (rather than covert
contravention of international law). Americans, in particular, the CIA and
the Pentagon, have always been involved in t! orture. The School of the
Americas is, amongst other things, a school for torture (and see also here
and here). The only difference between the Bush Administration and other
previous administrations, including those with Democrat Presidents, is that
the Bush Administration is proud of what it is doing, and no longer
attempts to hide it (plus we have photos).

Carrying the 'White Man's Burden' in Iraq
Joshua Holland
Last week, on the precious real estate of the right's flagship, the Wall
Street Journal editorial page, Iraq war-hawk Sen. Joe Lieberman (D?-CT) let
slip another unspoken reason why we remain in Iraq more than two and a half
years after achieving our stated goal of "disarming" Saddam Hussein.
Lieberman wrote that the Iraqis are on the brink of transitioning "from the
primitive, killing tyranny of Saddam to modern, self-governing,
self-securing nationhood." ! That is, "unless the great American military
that has given them and us this unexpected opportunity is prematurely
withdrawn." (...) Iraq under the Baathists was many things, but primitive
wasn't one of them. Before two decades of infrastructure-smashing war, Iraq
was considered to be as advanced as many countries in Western Europe. Its
universities were the envy of the Arabic world, as was its health care
system, which featured the most modern hospitals in the region...

Five days to election
A Citizen Of Mosul
The election of the new parliament will hold next Thursday. The situation
in the city of Mosul is very stressful. The US convoys wandering through
out the city day and night. The police cars full of policemen holding gun
aiming at the pedestrians and firing their guns at any car which fail to
stop or approaching the convoy. From the other side there were explosions
every where, masked gunmen attacking the US soldiers and the Iraqi police.
The roads are blocked by either a ! concrete blocks or barbed wires making
the moving in the city streets very difficult and dangerous.

GI Special 3D41: Soldiers Against War - December 12, 2005
www.militaryproject.org
... John Catt, an 80-year-old peace campaigner, was stopped by police
officers as a terrorist suspect in Brighton in September - for wearing a
T-shirt with anti-Blair and Bush slogans. Mr Catt, who served in the RAF
during the Second World War, was stopped, searched by police and made to
sign a form confirming he had been interviewed under the 2000 Terrorism
Act. The official record of the encounter confirms that the "purpose" of
th! e search was "terrorism" and the "grounds for intervention" were
"carrying placard and T-shirt with anti-Blair info" (sic)...

my friends
www.albasrah.net
Dear brothers and sisters, I am writing to you as a member of Christian
Peacemaker Teams. I have worked in Iraq for the past two years. Four of my
colleagues are missing. Their hosts have said that if the U.S. does not
release all Iraqi prisoners by tomorrow, my colleagues will be killed. I am
writing to ask your help to tell people in Iraq that we in CPT are working
against the American occupation and against a! ll war and occupation. We
have worked for more than two years to fight for freedom and human rights
for Iraqi detainees. We have friends in Fallujah, Ramadi, and many other
cities in Iraq that have suffered because of the American occupation...

Incalculable pain
The Pentagon is underreporting the number of American soldier casualties in
Iraq, say House Democrats.
Mark Benjamin, Salon.com
A group of seven House Democrats wrote President Bush this week, accusing
the Pentagon of underreporting casualties in Iraq. It's a shocking charge.
The letter writers argue that Pentagon casualty reports show only a sliver
of the injuries, mostly physical ones from bombs or bullets. But war
doesn't work like that, the Democrats declare, adding tha! t the reports
skip a horrible panoply of accidents, illness, disease and mental trauma.
"We are concerned that that the figures that were released to the public by
your administration do not accurately represent the true toll that this war
has taken on the American people," the group wrote Bush on Dec. 7. The Dems
are right...

Iraqi oil industry in crisis
Heiko Flottau
Iraqi oil exports fell to their lowest level in two years in November 2005.
Bad management of the reconstruction effort, widespread corruption among
government figures, and sabotage by insurgents are the reasons for the
decline. Experts say that the US strategy of military intervention in
oil-rich regions can only diminish, rather than increase, the supply to
world markets...

An important statement to the Baathist Comrades, and to the dignified Iraqi
people: No to the parliamentary elections! No to the candidates!
The Arab Baath Socialist Party
...No to the parliamentary masquerade elections! No to the participation
into voting! No to publicize for any candidates whoever he is and whatever
he is! The one who accepts the game and present himself under any names and
titles, he is a traitor indeed and he will remain so under any
circumstances. There will be no support, and no vote for th! e one who
shouts his mouth off about his old patriotic past or his Baath ex
membership. There is no Iraqi patriot participating and no truly committed
Baathist participating. There are no lists, no alliances; no agreements
linked whatsoever with the Resisting Baath and Baathists militants...

Newspapers largely ignored Murtha's revelation that military will request
$100 billion for war next year
Media Matters for America
In their respective articles on President Bush's December 7 speech on U.S.
reconstruction efforts in Iraq, The New York Times, The Washington Post,
USA Today, and the Los Angeles Times all failed to report that Rep. John P.
Murtha (D-PA), in a press conference that followed the president's address,
disclosed that military officials plan to request an additional $100
billion for the Ir! aq war in 2006. By contrast, the Associated Press
article on Bush's speech clearly noted this disclosure...

Memo: On fragging Rumsfeld (unclassified)
jouna, iraq-war.ru
As all the higher U.S. officers know, the latest 'plans’ of the Secretary
of Defense Mr. Rumsfeld, 'aerial war’, '70 mobile brigades’, 'arab
auxiliaries’ are as sufficient in handling the present situation in Iraq as
the resources he offered for the operation Iraqi Freedom, a mission
accomplished according to his spokesman, Mr. Bush in May 2, 2003. These ad
hoc 'plans’ – like others he has not yet even invented – are throwing the
U.S. Armed Forces to th! e same black hole der Führer precipitated the

US militaries in Iraq involved in bribes and corruption! Iraqi Heroic
Resistance controls Baghdad! The US desperately tries to conceal casualties!
Fadhel Badran, special blog from Baghdad - Al-Moharer
Observers noticed lately that the Iraqi glorious armed Resistance military
operations in Baghdad and in its suburbs have changed nature and adopted a
highly professional new technique and profile. Theses same observers also
indicate that while it is possible to predict and expect when the
Resistance will strike and ! hit the US bloodthirsty enemy next, the high
planning ability of the Resistance, the speed of its able blows, its
redeployment supple techniques, the intensity of its fire, make it
impossible for the occupation forces to protect itself and prevent such
operations...

Iraqi general tells of prison torture horror
AFP
An Iraqi general formerly in charge of special forces said on Sunday he
witnessed horrific scenes of torture in Iraqi prisons and accused a Shiite
militia of being responsible. "It was horrific. Thousands of detainees,
often teenagers, beaten, burned, receiving electric shocks, then the
majority killed," Muntazar al-Samarrai, who fled Iraq for Jordan five
months ago, told AFP. In video footage Samarrai said he filmed at one
detention center, men show whip marks and! acid burns. One of them has lost
an eye. Another's legs are broken. Still another has nails driven into his
body (...) He said Iraq's Interior Minister Bayan Jabr Solagh had named as
ministry policemen 17,000 fighters from the Badr organization, the disarmed
militia of the pro-Iranian Shiite fundamentalist Supreme Council for the
Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI). The ministry forces "continued to
receive salaries from Tehran," and "spoke amongst themselves in Farsi," he
said...

Union speech that Iraq had tried to buy nuclear weapons material in Africa,
the French spy service began repeatedly warning the CIA in secret
communications that there was no evidence to support the allegation. The
previously undisclosed exchanges between the U.S. and the French, described
in interviews last week by the retired chief of th! e French
counterintelligence service and a former CIA official, came on separate
occasions in 2001 and 2002...
