Apartheid-justice in America; Krugal vs. Padilla
Mike Whitney
In the three years that Jose Padilla has been locked away in solitary
confinement, the government has been unable to cobble together enough
evidence to even charge him with a crime. They have nothing on him, just
the ever-changing claims of a Justice Dept that shows as much respect for
justice as it does for personal liberty (...) The Padilla case is of
particular interest now that we have a genuine case of domestic terrorism
we can use for comparison! . Last week, EarlKrugel was sentenced to 20
years in prison for his role in plot to bomb a mosque and a
Lebanese-American congressman's office. Krugel was an active member in the
Jewish Defense League (JDL), a radical Jewish organization founded by Rabbi
Meir Kahane who "advocated the forceful removal of Arabs from Israel" (...)
Krugal is a radical, a terrorist, and a murderer. Never the less, we defend
his right to be charged with a crime, to face his accusers, to have an
attorney for his defense, to produce witnesses on his behalf, and to be
tried by a jury of his peers...

Sinister Events In A Cynical War
John Pilger, ZNet
Here are questions that are not being asked about the latest twist of a
cynical war. Were explosives and a remote-control detonator found in the
car of the two SAS special forces men "rescued" from prison in Basra on 19
September? If true, what were they planning to do with them? Why did the
British military authorities in Iraq put out an unbelievable version of the
circumstances that led up to armoured vehicles smashing down the wall of a
prison? (...) The episo! de illuminates the most enduring lie of the
Anglo-American adventure. This says the "coalition" is not to blame for the
bloodbath in Iraq - which it is, overwhelmingly - and that foreign
terrorists orchestrated by al-Qaeda are the real culprits. The conductor of
the orchestra, goes this line, is Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, a Jordanian. The
demonry of Al-Zarqawi is central to the Pentagon's "Strategic Information
Program" set up to shape news coverage of the occupation...

From a Cave in Afghanistan: It’s the al-Zarqawi Show
Kurt Nimmo, Another Day in the Empire
Osama, finally blessed with a donated kidney from a Pakistani religious
student (the transplant was performed in one of his better equipped caves
in Afghanistan), has launched an internet news show entitled “the Voice of
the Caliphate,” featuring an anchorman wearing a black ski mask and an
ammunition belt. I’m not making this up. Well, I made up the part about the
donated kidney (although Pakistani religious students have ! offered to
donate their kidneys to their hero Osama), but the business about the
internet show and the anchorman is true, if we can believe the Washington
Post...

AMERICA'S "WAR ON TERRORISM"
by Michel Chossudovsky
Globalresearch.ca
In this new and expanded edition of Michel Chossudovsky's 2002 best seller,
the author blows away the smokescreen put up by the mainstream media, that
9/11 was an attack on America by "Islamic terrorists". Through meticulous
research, the author uncovers a military-intelligence ploy behind the
September 11 attacks, and the cover-up and complicity of key members of the
Bush Administration. The expanded edition, which includes twelve new ch!
apters focuses on the use of 9/11 as a pretext for the invasion and illegal
occupation of Iraq, the militarisation of justice and law enforcement and
the repeal of democracy. According to Chossudovsky, the "war on terrorism"
is a complete fabrication based on the illusion that one man, Osama bin
Laden, outwitted the $40 billion-a-year American intelligence apparatus.
The "war on terrorism" is a war of conquest. Globalisation is the final
march to the "New World Order", dominated by Wall Street and the U.S.
military-industrial complex...

Iraqi Resistance Report for events of Tuesday, 27 September 2005
Translated and/or compiled by Muhammad Abu Nasr, member, editorial board,
the Free Arab Voice. ( http://www.freearabvoice.org )
In a dispatch posted at 6:25pm Mecca time Tuesday afternoon, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that two Iraqi Resistance bombs had exploded on the road
leading to the al-Jazirah area north of ar-Ramadi, 110km west of Baghdad.
The ar-Ramadi correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as
saying that two bombs that ha! d been planted facing each other on the side
of the main road to al-Jazirah exploded nearly simultaneously as a column
of three US troop transports and three Humvees passed by...

Powwow With God
Anwaar Hussain, Fountainhead
The current President of United States finds himself in God’s company more
often than any other modern American President. One has been hearing about
George Bush's close encounters with God for years now. We have all heard
about how God talks to the President, giving him instructions on how to
conduct foreign policy (particularly: which countries to invade). Quite
evidently, President George W. Bush did a good job at following orders
because he got reelected to a secon! d term. President Bush has never
disputed the story, recounted in the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, that he
himself told the Palestinian leadership, "God told me to strike at al Qaida
and I struck them, and then he instructed me to strike at Saddam". Then we
have a similar account, courtesy of The Globe and Mail, of the President
telling the Canadian Prime Minister he was carrying out divine commands...

GI Special 3C64:The Combat Eingineers' Wife - September 26, 2005
www.militaryproject.org
...Like a lot of people at this demonstration, he speaks calmly, even
quietly, but with a deep-seated disgust. "I'm just sick of it. I think Bush
is immoral. You have to say something. We're proud to be here. I'd slam the
door in George Bush's face if he came knocking." His daughter, like most of
the demonstrators, is dressed casually -- sweat shirt, blue jeans,
sneakers. She tells me her husband, a combat engineer who joined! the
military in 2002, is back for his second tour of duty in Iraq. He was gone
for his daughter's birth, home for nine months, returned in the winter and
now is stop-lossed. They're not certain when he'll be back...

Why are American Religious Leaders Silent?
Torture and Cowardice
RAY McGOVERN, Former CIA analyst
Where do American religious leaders stand on torture? Their deafening
silence evokes memories of the unconscionable behavior of German church
leaders in the 1930s and early 1940s. Despite the hate whipped up by
administration propagandists against those it brands "terrorists," most
Americans agree that torture should not be permitted. Few seem aware,
though, that although President George W. Bush says he is! against torture,
he has openly declared that our military and other interrogators may engage
in torture "consistent with military necessity"...

Australia’s Shallow Multiculturalism
Ghali Hassan
Since the 9/11 attacks on the U.S., racial and violent attacks against the
Muslims by the media, the elites and politicians have increased markedly
and are becoming part of a daily routine. Under the leadership of Prime
Minister John Howard, Australia evolved from a “tolerant”, forward-looking
society into one of the most intolerant and conservative societies in the
Western world. Today, Australia’s multiculturalism is only useful as
political rhetoric and an inst! rument of marginalisation...

Tony Blair, Spiro Agnew and the Antiwar Movement
Those Pesky "Urban Intellectuals"
MIKE MARQUSEE
Tony Blair has dismissed opposition to his Iraq policy as the province of
"urban intellectuals". A strange comment from the Prime Minister of one of
the most urbanised societies on earth. But then he also managed to ignore
the latest opinion poll showing that 57% of his electorate want to see
British troops out of Iraq. Back in 1970, Spiro Agnew, then vice-president
of the United States, disparaged anti-Viet! nam War activists as "effete
intellectuals"...

Families flee Samara ahead of planned offensive
IRIN
Hundreds of families have started to flee the Iraqi city of Samara, some
120km north of the capital, Baghdad, following a recent Ministry of Defense
announcement that preparations had started for an offensive by Coalition
forces against insurgents holed up there, officials said. Hamad al-Kashty,
governor of Salah al-Din province, said on Monday that nearly 500 families
had so far fled the city. Many were presently in the outskirts,
particularly around al-Dur, a! l-Salam, Baghdad and within empty schools
and government buildings near the city of Tikrit...

German court declares Iraq war violated international law
Justus Leicht, WSWS
Just a few weeks ago, a highly significant judicial decision was handed
down by the German Federal Administrative Court but barely mentioned in the
German media. With careful reasoning, the judges ruled that the assault
launched by the United States and its allies against Iraq was a clear war
of aggression that violated international law. Further, they meticulously
demonstrated that the German government, in contrast to its public prote!
stations, had assisted in the aggression against Iraq without having any
legal right to do so...

Baghdad in the dark as power cuts continue to blight the city
Patrick Cockburn
Surveying an abandoned, night-time street in Baghdad, Nadum Ali Jawad is
one of the many Iraqis who are fed up with being left in the dark. "I don't
believe sabotage is the main reason for the electricity blackout, I think
officials just steal the money meant for new power stations," was the
student's verdict on yet another power cut. Few failures in Iraq 30 months
after the fall of Saddam Hussein infuriate Iraqis more than the continu!
ing shortage of electricity. (...)
They repeatedly point out that after the 1991 Gulf War, Saddam Hussein took
only six months to patch up the power stations and the national grid,
though both had been severely damaged by missiles and bombs...

How stupid can you be, arresting Cindy Sheehan while the whole world is
watching?
Bev Conover,Online Journal Editor & Publisher
Does having Cindy Sheehan arrested and hauled off to the pokey to be
photographed and finger-printed make you feel like a man, Dubya? Is this
payback for Cindy's Camp Casey in Crawford? Better pour yourself another
drink, George. Maybe pop some more pills, too. You're gonna need 'em.
Nothing can ignite our determination to rid our country of you and your
band of criminals than seeing a m! other, who opposed your illegal war
before her son died in it and who wants all the killing stopped, arrested
for not having a permit to sit down in front of the house—the White
House—that belongs to the people along with all the other government

Freedom is not free
Joe Johnson, Online Journal Contributing Writer
...Courage has a name in this country: Cindy Sheehan. The reactionary right
mocks that which it fears and does not understand. History will judge their
ineffable ignorance accordingly, but we can judge it now in real time. What
fools those princes of media who ignored the little dark man in loincloth
who insisted on doing his own weaving. What fools the Limbaugh listeners
who would have called Martin Luther King an uppity nigger in his day. What
! fools the Bill O'Reilly's and Matthew Drudge's contemptible spin, flaying
uselessly about the impotence of that sad mom getting busted. Their time

Pfc. Lynndie England Takes a Fall for the Neocons
Kurt Nimmo, Another Day in the Empire
It’s a revisitation of the prosecution and conviction of Lt. William
Calley. Army Pfc. Lynndie England was convicted earlier today of “detainee
abuse” (a neutral term for sadistic torture) at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq.
“England, 22, was found guilty of one count of conspiracy, four counts of
maltreating detainees and one count of committing an indecent act. She was
acquitted on a second conspiracy count,” reports the Associate! d Press.
“The jury of five male officers needed slightly more than two hours to
reach its verdict. Her case now moves into the sentencing phase, which will
determined by the same jury of five Army officers. She faces a maximum 10
years in prison”...

"Suppose...": Arguments for an Impeachment Resolution
Bernard Weiner, Co-Editor, The Crisis Papers
Suppose it could be proven that the integrity of the vote-counting in the
2004 election had been seriously compromised, and that Bush-Cheney probably
lost. What would you do about it? Suppose it could be proven that the Bush
Administration told huge lies to get the U.S. military into Iraq, thus
leading to the deaths of thousands of American soldiers, the maiming of
tens of thousands of others, the deaths of more tha! n 100,000 innocent
Iraqi civilians? What would you do about it?...

Bringing the war home to the Pentagon
Mike Ferner, Orbstandard
In a pre-dawn civil disobedience action Monday morning, 41 War Resisters
League members and others sat down and were arrested at a pedestrian
entrance to the Pentagon, slowing foot traffic at that location and
prompting officials to close the U.S. military headquarters' sole stop on
Washington's Metro line for a period. Protesters, including Elizabeth
McAllister and her daughter, Frieda Berrigan, Susan Crane, Ken Crowley,
Jeff Leys, and others with a ! long history of peace activism and arrests
for civil disobedience, leafleted or sat down to block people from entering
Entrance Three of the sprawling U.S. military command (...) One critical
observation of the morning's activity was the nearly complete lack of news
media coverage. Pentagon officials have banned any photographs of the
facility since the attack on September 11, 2001, but no print or radio
reporters were there to observe, either...
