L'AMERICA ED IL SUO NUOVO CUORE DI TENEBRA
JOHN KAMINSKI

"Lo facciamo perché possiamo" ha detto il militare compiaciuto. E con
questa filosofia, la macchina da guerra corporativa americana cerca di
trascinare il mondo alla tomba. Mi rimbombano ancora nelle orecchie le
parole dell'ex generale e di recente Segretario di Stato Colin Powell: "Non
contiamo i morti Iracheni", disse. Forse perché sapeva che non avrebbe
potuto contare fino a tanto.

Saleh Amer, Islamonline - Osservatorio Iraq

The American Soldiers Must Know
Ibrahim Ebeid *, Al-Moharer
...While the innocent Iraqis and US soldiers are dying for lies and
deceptions the situation in Iraq is worsening. The Iraqis are suffering
under the new "freedom and democracy" that Bush brought upon them. The pro
Iran "religious" parties such as Dawa and the Iraq Council of Islamic
Revolution, the most reactionary parties that Iraq ever has known, are
imposing themselves on Basra and on the rest of the south. With the support
of the forces of occupatio! n and the Mullah of Iran they are terrorizing
the people and forcing the population to accept and enforce very
reactionary codes. The barbers are being killed or attacked for shaving
beards of their customers. Women are being forced to wear hijab against
their will; Christians are being killed for selling liquor and for working
in liquor stores. They are creating a Republic of Fear, an Iranian style
republic...

Conquest, Blood and Money...
Randy Atkins, www.ArsenalofHypocrisy.com
...The United States reports that it flew over 110,000 air sorties against
Iraq, dropping to date over 100,000 tons of conventional bombs, nearly
seven times the equivalent of the atomic bomb that destroyed Hiroshima. Of
this bombardment, 93% consists of free-falling bombs, most dropped from
over 30,000 feet and indiscriminately killing millions of civilians. At
least 7% of the bombs in Iraq had satellite guided systems; more than 25%
missed t! heir targets. Most of the targets were civilian facilities. In
2004, it's been estimated that the United States fired 2,500 tons of
depleted uranium munitions on Iraq with the radio-active equivalent of
thousands of Nagasaki bombs with a half-life of 4.5 BILLION years...

Iraqi Resistance Report for events of Sunday, 27 February 2005
Translated and/or compiled by Muhammad Abu Nasr, member, editorial board,
the Free Arab Voice.
...The correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam in Karbala' reported on Sunday
that a statement circulated in a number of Shi'i husayniyah places of
worship in the city contained misinformation and distortions regarding
Mafkarat al-Islam's news coverage, claiming that Mafkarat al-Islam was
insulting to the Shi'ah and their religious authorities, saying that it
had! attacked the Badr Brigades which openly collaborate with the US
occupation forces. In a similar fashion, Zionists claim that any attack on
"Israel" or the Zionist movement constitutes racist "anti-Semitism"...

Two murders and a lie
Reporters Without Borders
Reporters Without Borders called today for the reopening of the enquiry
into who was really responsible for the US Army's "criminal negligence" in
shooting at the Palestine Hotel in Baghdad on 8 April 2003 and causing the
death of two journalists - Ukrainian cameramen Taras Protsyuk (of Reuters
news agency) and Spaniard José Couso (of the Spanish TV station Telecinco).
The call came in a report of the press freedom organisation's own in-depth
investigation of the in! cident, which gathered evidence from journalists
in the hotel at the time, from others "embedded" with US Army units and
from the US military soldiers and officers directly involved...

The Crawford Deal: did Blair sign up for war at Bush's Texas ranch in April
2002?
Raymond Whitaker, Independent
We know that arguments raged about the legality of the war right up to a
crucial cabinet meeting on 17 March 2003, two days before the attack began.
But now new evidence pieced together by the 'IoS' strongly backs the
suspicion that the PM had already made the decision to strike a year
earlier...

Aljazeera.net
At least 106 people have been killed and 130 injured in a car bombing near
a medical centre in al-Hilla, south of Baghdad, police sources say. The
attack, which happened at 9.30am (0630 GMT) on Monday is the deadliest
single attack in Iraq in a year. "We spoke to our branch office there an
hour ago and they told us there are more than 100 killed," Firdus al-Abadi,

War Criminal?
Sunday Herald
...At the core of Blair's problem is the issue he cannot avoid: the
legality of his decision to unquestionably support the Bush administration
in going to war in Iraq when virtually all international legal advice
warned there was no justification for doing so. Enemies looking for legal
evidence that would brand Blair a potential war criminal have seized upon
the publication next week of Lawless World, by University College London
law professor and QC Philippe Sands...

UK troops 'beat relatives of Camp Breadbasket captives'
Kim Sengupta, Independent
Relatives of Iraqis tortured by British soldiers revealed last night how
they were also arrested and brutally beaten simply for asking questions.
The Independent on Sunday can reveal that the Iraqi civilians were punched
and kicked after arriving at Camp Breadbasket to find out why friends and
relatives had been detained. The disclosures came as the Attorney General
called for reforms of the military justice system, and shortly afte! r
three Royal Regiment of Fusiliers soldiers were jailed for abusing
detainees...

Some Iraqis protest having Saturday off.
Many associate it with Jewish Sabbath
The Associated Press
Iraqis are complaining about their first-ever weekend break, and some
high-school students even went to class Saturday to protest a decision
introducing a second weekly day off that coincides with the Jewish Sabbath.
It's not that the Iraqis do not want time off — they just want the extra
day moved to Thursday. "We don't want Saturday! It's a Jewish holiday!"
students chanted as they marched in protest last we! ek to the governor's
office in Baqouba, 35 miles northeast of Baghdad...

Kurds Vow to Retain Militia as Guardians of Autonomy
EDWARD WONG, NYTimes
...Here at a training camp in the eastern hills of Iraqi Kurdistan, there
is little doubt about to whom these soldiers owe their allegiance. Many say
their first loyalty lies with a major Kurdish political party. Then they
offer it to Kurdistan, the rugged autonomous region in northern Iraq the
size of Switzerland. There is little mention of the nation of Iraq or the
Iraqi Army. "All of the pesh merga of Kurdistan, we're fighting for Kurdis!
tan," one of the soldiers, Fermen Ibrahim, 25, told a visitor, calling the
militia by its Kurdish name, which means "those who face death"...

11,000 US soldiers dead from DU poisoning
Bob Nichols, www.globalresearch.ca
Considering the tons of depleted uranium used by the U.S., the Iraq war can
truly be called a nuclear war. Preventive Psychiatry E-Newsletter charged
Monday that the reason Veterans Affairs Secretary Anthony Principi stepped
down earlier this month was the growing scandal surrounding the use of
uranium munitions in the Iraq War. Writing in Preventive Psychiatry
E-Newsletter No. 169, Arthur N. Bernklau, executive director of Veterans
for! Constitutional Law in New York, stated, "The real reason for Mr.
Principi's departure was really never given, however a special report
published by eminent scientist Leuren Moret naming depleted uranium as the
definitive cause of the 'Gulf War Syndrome' has fed a growing scandal about
the continued use of uranium munitions by the US Military"...

Iraqi officials say Syria handed over Saddam Hussein's half brother
Compiled by Daily Star staff
Iraqi officials said Sunday that Syrian authorities captured Saddam
Hussein's half brother in Syria and handed him over to Iraq in an apparent
good will gesture. Sabaawi Ibrahim al-Hasan, who was also a former adviser
suspected of financing insurgents after U.S. troops ousted the former
dictator, was captured in Hasakah in northeastern Syria near the Iraqi
border, two senior Iraqi officials said in Cairo, Egypt, on co! ndition of

New charge undermines Blair claims on Iraq war
Raymond Whitaker and Severin Carrell, Independent
Fresh evidence has come to light suggesting that Tony Blair committed
himself to war in Iraq nearly a year before the American and British
assault in March 2003. The news will heighten the pressure on the Prime
Minister to reveal how Britain was drawn into the conflict, in a week when
a leading QC has called into question the legal advice on which the
Government went to war. Such anxiety is felt in official circles th! at
Special Branch detectives had questioned MPs over leaks, it emerged this
weekend...
