"Alerta que camina
la espada de Bolìvar
por America Latina"
Fulvio Grimaldi, MONDOCANE
tempo, neutralizzando frustrazioni, lotte intestine e complotti eversivi.
Quel tempo che la forza e la coscienza ormai matura di movimenti di massa
non più socialdemocratizzabili sta promettendo e che soprattutto viene
garantito da quella che Hugo Chavez e tutti i bolivariani del mondo
chiamano "l'eroica Resistenza irachena"...

Saddam in un'intervista esclusiva
Babnet.net
caso...

The Empire in the Year 2005
James Petras, www.globalresearch.ca
World developments in 2005 will be determined by the major events and
tendencies in 2004. First and foremost, 2004 demonstrated in the most
dramatic and definitive manner that the US imperial military machine could
be defeated. The Iraqi resistance has proven that the US Empire is not
invincible. With over 1500 combat deaths, close to 25,000 disabled soldiers
and over 35,000 suffering severe "mental illnesses", the US occupation army
is incapable of! bringing the colonial war to a victorious conclusion...

Linking al-Qaeda to the Iraqi Resistance: An Exercise in Futility
Kurt Nimmo
Osama bin Laden, dead and buried, and al-Qaeda is the best thing that ever
happened to the Bushcons. Earlier this week a voice "purported" to be Osama
promoted Abu Musab al-Zarqawi to the position of "emir" over the resistance
in Iraq, prompting the corporate media to include the al-Qaeda angle into
stories about the resistance. "Attacks this week on police and other Iraqi
security forces have left dozens dead in a sign that the Sunni in!
surgency, freshly endorsed by Osama bin Laden, remains potent despite U.S.
offensives intended to protect the election on Jan.30," writes Reuters. Of
course, these attacks would occur if Osama—or rather the manufactured voice
of Osama—had never said a word about the resistance...

Too Bush Killing Iraqis
A Shameful Response to Disaster
DAVE LINDORFF, CounterPunch
...Surely the world's richest nation could spare a few thousand rescue
troops and medical teams and a billion dollars or so to help prevent the
inevitable epidemics and starvation that will follow this latest natural
catastrophe in one of the world's poorest regions. But then, where would
those troops and medics come from? They're busy killing Iraqis and patching
up the American wounded in the latest U.S. imperial advent! ure, and can't
be spared for humanitarian gestures...

Parents for Peace in Iraq
Raed Jarrar, Raed in the Middle
I had dinner yesterday with a group of parents that lost their children in
iraq. Along with representatives of several anti-war groups, including San
Francisco-based Global Exchange, CodePink, Physicians for Social
Responsibility (PSR), the parents will be distributing some US$600,000
worth of aid for the estimated 250,000 people who fled the city in advance
of U.S. offensive last month in which some 2,000 Iraqis and at least 71
U.S. soldiers were killed..! .

Was 2004 the worst year in the history of the United States?
Xymphora
...Oh, and what about the war? In the late years of the Vietnam War, if you
can believe it, there were actually large protests against the war. That
sort of thing is unimaginable now, as progressives appear to have
completely given up (or maybe there are no more progressives in the United
States). The utter hopelessness of opposition may turn out to be the main
reason that 2004 is a real stinker...

Exporting Unhappiness
Iraq is giving new meaning to the word nationalism. It's become a running
sore for the US.
SUNANDA K. DATTA-RAY

history was made in 2004 and is still being made (...) As more US troops
are despatched for a meaningless election whose outcome will be even more
short-lived than the Hashemite monarchy, Iraq at war teaches the rest of
Asia the meaning of nationalism...

Happy New Year, Mr. President
Anwaar Hussain, The Baltimore Chronicle.
...From Iraq, too, we hear similar outrageous stories coming out. For
example, they say that your G.I. Joes are now deserting in hordes (...)
That the so-called ''Sunni Trianglè is a figment of your imagination and
your not having learned your geometry lessons very well. That in fact the
whole Iraqi population is up in arms against your benign occupation and it
is not a question of triangles, circles and rectangles. That the series of
bombings! that left hundreds of innocent Iraqis dead and scores of others
injured were in fact planted by your cohorts to drive a wedge between Shias
and Sunnis...

Saddam in an exclusive interview: The Americans will leave Iraq by the
small door
Babnet.net
... If God wants it, Bush will be lonely after the whole world will know
that he is a liar. He will leave Iraq by the small door because Iraqi
Resistance is well prepared. It was prepared quite ahead of war. I had
joined together the military and political commands and we had prepared
this new page of the war against the Americans. What arrives today is not
the fruit of chance (...) I am afraid for Syria. Like Iraq, this ! country
is in the collimator. Moreover, I repeated on several occasions that the
whole Arab Nation is aimed. It is a crusade, a racist war which aims the
Arabs and Islam at the same time.
For this reason they were baited on Iraq, this country with the long
civilization...

Congress Is Quiet on Abuse of Detainees
Frank Davies, The Miami Herald
Graphic reports of widespread prisoner abuse in Iraq and at Guantánamo Bay
continue to rise, with the latest reports coming from the FBI. Federal
judges are struggling to determine how far they can go in reviewing the
detention and treatment of those the government classifies as enemy
combatants. And the Bush administration is asserting broad powers to detain
and interrogate foreign suspects but has lost several court battles over
the matter. ! Yet through it all, Congress has been largely absent. "That
branch has really abdicated its responsibility to set rules and oversee
what's happening, and we are paying a price for it," said retired Rear Adm.
Don Guter, who was judge advocate general in the U.S. Navy when the
Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, prison camp was set up three years ago...
