Falluja: la Guernica del Secolo XXI
Saul Landau, Osservatorio Iraq
militari Usa ! hanno negato l'episodio. Storie come queste non arrivano ai
titoli dei giornali. I morti civili nelle guerre di aggressione degli Usa
non hanno spazio nei media...

Un tic volontario nei servizi dei media sull'Iraq
Norman Solomon, Nuovi Mondi Media

Even if you rally all the demons and devils of Earth and Hell you will not
succeed in Iraq
Abu Assur, Al-Moharer
Call in the Martians, the Arab league eunuchs, the cupid G8, the
shilly-shallying United Nations Organization, the Un-Islamic Conference
Organization, scream, shout and howl for help through, conferences,
resolutions, bribes, schemes and tricks you are not going to see the end of
your tunnel and humiliation in Iraq US thugs (...) I have just been
speaking to a resistor in Iraq. He told me literally tha! t every single
square inch of Iraq has witnessed an attack on US mercenaries. The US army
is bleeding to death. The US casualties are far higher than those
officially announced...

Al Moharer "The liberator" speaks the language of Voltaire
Abu Assur, Al-Moharer
Al Moharer speaks today the language of Voltaire! Al-Moharer means "The
Liberator"! (...) "Our hearts beat with the Iraqi resistance, we want news,
good news! How is Iraq?" Rashid asked me a Moroccan student living in
France. "We know nothing of what is going on there, they hide every thing!"
Voltaire said once that information liberates us. Liberators in Iraq give
us a striking example. They ask us to liberate ourselves from our fea! rs
and never doubt one second about the defeat of the Zionist US Imperialism...

Iraqi Red Crescent Pulls Out of Fallujah
News.Scotsman.com
US-led forces later detained eight men unaffiliated with the aid group who
had sought shelter in the group's building. Saad Hakki said coalition
forces asked the group to withdraw "temporarily" from its building in
Fallujah. The neighbourhood where it is located has seen sporadic fighting
since a campaign by American and Iraqi forces last month to uproot
insurgents operating in the city...

Britons sounded alert on Abu Ghraib
Stephen Grey, Times Online,
BRITISH officials in Iraq warned the Foreign Office and American
authorities of serious concerns about the treatment of prisoners six months
before the torture and sexual abuse at Abu Ghraib was revealed. Several
civil servants seconded to reconstruction jobs in Iraq have described in
interviews how they witnessed ill-qualified American guards ignoring basic
human rights as they turned Abu Ghraib into a military interrogation
facility — rather than t! he civilian installation they wanted...

To My American Friend with Love
Nesreen Melek, Axis of Logic
In a time when I thought all American men are without heart, you proved to
me there are still some with one. In a time when I heard the screams of
women, kids and elderly coming from far away pleading for help, you told me
you could hear it too. In a time when I felt helpless watching my country
being destroyed because of big lies, you told me it breaks your heart too...

Returning Fallujans will face clampdown
Anne Barnard, Globe Staff
The US military is drawing up plans to keep insurgents from regaining
control of this battle-scarred city, but returning residents may find that
the measures make Fallujah look more like a police state than the democracy
they have been promised. Under the plans, troops would funnel Fallujans to
so-called citizen processing centers on the outskirts of the city to
compile a database of their identities through DNA testing and retina
scans. Residents ! would receive badges displaying their home addresses
that they must wear at all times...

Congress, Bush-Cheney Gang & the "Shadow Government"
William Hughes, Media Monitors Network
America is in deep trouble because of its warmongering in the Middle East.
A big part of the reason for this fact, is that the U.S. Constitution is
considered just a piece of paper by most of the elected politicos in
Washington. The other problem, even more potentially serious, is that the
Iraqi War is bringing into focus the activities of a sinister force that
has no allegiance to our democracy, yet it seems to exercise e! normous
influence over our government. What, if anything, can be done about these
matters? There are, at least, two constitutional arguments to be made
against the Iraqi War. The first is that it violates Art. 1, Sec. 8 (11) of
that document, since the U.S. Congress failed to declare war. The second is
that the war was initiated by the Bush-Cheney Gang not to provide for "the
common defense" or to promote "the general welfare," which are two of the
noble objects of our Republic, but mostly to enrich the behind-the-scene
Wire Pullers, who operate as a kind of "Shadow Government" ...

Anglo-American "democratic imperialism" and 0.9 billion infant deaths
Gideon Polya, Media Monitors Network
...The Anglo-American Coalition commenced war against Iraq in 1991,
conquered Afghanistan in 2001 and finally occupied all of Iraq in 2003. The
human cost has been horrendous - the "excess mortality" (avoidable
mortality) in Iraq has been estimated from UN data to be 1.5 million since
1991 and about 0.3 million since the US invasion in 2003, these estimates
being consonant with estimates of under-5 infant mo! rtality there
totalling 1.2 million since 1991 and about 0.2 million since the final
invasion. The "excess mortality" and under-5 infant mortality in
Afghanistan have been 1.2 million and 0.9 million, respectively, since the
invasion in 2001...

Iraq situation 'too dangerous for polls'
Aljazeera.net
It would be impossible to hold elections in Iraq in January if the security
situation remains as precarious as it is, a UN adviser has said. "Elections
are no magic potion, but part of a political process. They must be prepared
well and take place at the right time to produce the good effects that you
expect from them," al-Akhdar al-Ibrahimi, architect of the political
process leading to elections in Iraq, told NRC Handelsblad in an article
published on Satur! day...

Trophy Hunting?
Dahr Jamail
...Aisha Dulaimy, a resident of al-Adhamiya said, "The reason for this car
bomb is the Americans want to cause a split between the Shia and Sunni. But
there has never been fighting between the Shia and Sunni in the history of
Iraq. They want to make a struggle between us, but it will never work. They
tried this before and people responded by making demonstrations together
against the occupiers. So they will never make it. We are living as
brothers-Shia and Sunni. There is no difference! because we all live in the
same home, which is Iraq"...

indiscriminate arrest of civilians, including patients with chronic

RPT-Baghdad's airport road: symbol of U.S. frustration
Luke Baker, Reuters
As U.S. forces bore down on Baghdad in April last year, the first objective
they took before the assault on the capital itself was the airport. More
than 20 months on from then, they still don't control the 10 km (6 mile)
stretch between the airport and the city, now considered the most lethal
piece of road in Iraq...

Iraq attacks intensify
Aljazeera.net
Saturday 04 December 2004 - Car bombs have struck Iraqi police and Kurdish
militiamen in Baghdad and northern Iraq killing at least 14 people and
wounding 62. Saturday's attack is the latest example of the growing chaos
in Iraq - only weeks away from elections slated for 30 January. The US
commander in Iraq, General John Abizaid, acknowledged that the country's
home-grown forces aren't yet up to the task of protecting the elections,
making a planned US troop increase necessary! ...

Baghdad worse than ever, says Hill
Patrick Walters, The Australian
ROBERT Hill has learnt first-hand the new perils involved in visiting
strife-torn Baghdad. Such has been the escalation of violence in the run-up
to the January 30 elections that for the first time in four visits, the
Defence Minister could not make it to the centre of the Iraqi capital last
Friday. So dangerous has the main highway to and from the airport become,
with daily suicide bomb attacks, he did not visit the Australian embassy or
the Gree! n Zone that comprises the headquarters of the US-led coalition
forces in Iraq...

US admits the war for 'hearts and minds' in Iraq is now lost
Pentagon report reveals catalogue of failure
Neil Mackay
THE Pentagon has admitted that the war on terror and the invasion and
occupation of Iraq have increased support for al-Qaeda, made ordinary
Muslims hate the US and caused a global backlash against America because of
the "self-serving hypocrisy" of George W Bush's administration over the
Middle East. The mea culpa is contained in a shockingly frank "strategic
communications" report, written th! is autumn by the Defence Science Board
for Pentagon supremo Donald Rumsfeld...

Jan. Elections Remain Misunderstood in U.S., Tenuous in Iraq
Lisa Ashkenaz Croke, The New Standard
Asked last week if Sunni participation was needed to make Iraq's national
elections "free and fair," President Bush told reporters that he was
"confident [that] when people realize that there's a chance to vote on a
President, they will participate." Bush's statement constitutes a
significant misrepresentation of Iraq's upcoming election, albeit one
likely believed by millions of Americans. In truth, Iraqis will not! be
voting for a president or any other executive...
