1. CORSO AGGIORNAMENTO ONLINE SU IMMIGRAZIONE

Il Circolo Africa sta organizzando un corso di aggiornamento sulle tematiche
migratorie da effettuare online. Il corso dovrebbe partire ai primi di
maggio e si rivolge a operatori sociali, studenti ma anche a quanti
intendono approfondire maggiormente le conoscenze in un campo come quello
dell'immigrazione contraddistinto da rapidi cambiamenti. Peculiarità di
questo corso è il fatto che potrà essere seguito direttamente dalla propria
abitazione o da qualsiasi luogo in cui esista una connessione a Internet.

2. NEWS FROM TURKEY
************************
Turks' EU expectations run high
The majority of Turks have a positive image of the European Union, and
nearly two-thirds of Turkish citizens support Turkey's accession to the
25-nation bloc, a European Union survey revealed.
Only 12 percent of those surveyed said that EU membership would be a bad
thing, according to the Eurobarometer survey, which was conducted between
Oct. 2 and Nov. 8, 2004 in EU member and candidate countries. For the first
time a national report on Turkey was produced together with national reports
on the 25 EU members and candidate countries.
The high feelings about the EU are at odds with public perception in many
EU countries. Turkey's membership in the EU faces opposition among some
member countries, particularly France and Germany.
Some 63 percent of Turks said the EU conjured up a positive image for
them, one of the highest among EU's current 25 members and four candidate
countries. Romania, another EU candidate, was where the union's public image
was the most positive, with 76 percent of those surveyed saying the union
created a positive image for them.
According to the survey Turks expect economic prosperity and a positive EU
role in fighting unemployment. Some 30 percent of those surveyed believed
membership to be desirable because it will bring the freedom to travel,
study and work anywhere in the EU.
But the survey also revealed that Turks know very little about the EU. The
level of information about the organization was shown to be the lowest in
Turkey; with only 25 percent saying they are informed while 73 percent feel
they are not well informed about the EU.
Head of the Delegation of the European Commission to Turkey, Ambassador
Hansjoerg Kretschmer, said while presenting the report in Ankara that
Eurobarometer's findings would help create realistic expectations concerning
Turkey's membership in both the EU and in Turkey.
While the low level of information is not surprising, the relatively low
level of identification with 'Europeanness' comes as somewhat of a surprise,
he said.
The survey also revealed high optimism for the future (43 percent). There
is no other member or candidate country that shows higher expectations for
the future.

Turkey, EU open tough talks in Brussels
Two top Turkish diplomats met with European Union Commission officials in
Brussels 2nd of March for talks over signing a protocol, which Ankara fears
could be misinterpreted as implying recognition of Greek Cyprus.
Ankara insists on a formal reservation stipulating that signing the protocol
extending Turkey's Association Agreement with the EU to the 10 new members
of the bloc would not imply recognition of Greek Cyprus. The Turkish and EU
sides will also have to reach an agreement on when the protocol should be
approved.
As the EU and Turkey try to find a common way of moving forward, an opinion
poll by the EU Commission's Eurobarometer found yesterday that the majority
of Turks favor membership in the EU, with only 12 percent saying membership
would be a bad thing for Turkey.

BARTIN YOUTH EXCHANGE AND SPORT CLUB
1. The youth group in Bartin on the coast of Black Sea in Turkey are
interested in European youth programs. They want to make a contact seminar
in August 2005.There will be 20 participants from all countries( members of

2. Student Project Initiative Centre
Student Project Initiative Centre is looking for two active, attractive and
open
mind volunteers (a girls and a boy) willing to start EVS project in Latvia,
Riga ( Free time youth centre ''Smile'', 6 months, 2003-LV-11)-  in
September
2005. Main activities are:
working with latvian and russian children and youth organizing, different
art

Teaching English in Mongolia:
A Cultural Program of People to People International

For many years People to People International has been offering various
kinds of cultural programs: At this point they are happy to present a
two-three month stay in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia in cooperation with PTPI's
Ulaanbaatar Chapter. PTPI's Ulaanbaatar Chapter in Mongolia invites members
to come to Ulaanbaatar for two to three months. Participants will teach
English part time and receive free room and board. The aim of the program is
to offer a chance for members to get to know Mongolia as a country and learn
about its culture. In addition it offers a good chance for PTPI's
Ulaanbaatar Chapter members to improve their language skills and to learn
about cultures in Europe. The duration of the program is usually between

4. MIGRAZIONE E MEDIA: CONVEGNO A IMOLA

L'associazione Trama di Terre organizza per il 12 marzo un convegno che
intende affrontare l'intreccio fra media e immigrazione il cui titolo è "La
migrazione nei media: La signorina notizia è bianca, ha le gambe corte, una
diffusa sordità, una grave miopia" ed è previsto presso il Cinema Teatro
"Don Fiorentini" (via Marconi, 31) ad Imola.

5. FESTIVAL DEL CINEMA AFRICANO A MILANO
***********************************************
Anche quest'anno è arrivato il momento del più importante festival del
cinema africano italiano che sarà in programma dal 14 al 20 marzo 2005.
Rispetto all'anno scorso è stata aggiunta una nuova sezione aperta ai tre
continenti e dedicata ai film documentari: il CONCORSO DOCUMENTARI "FINESTRE
SUL MONDO" con una decina di documentari lungometraggi realizzati da registi
d'Africa, Asia e America Latina. L'esigenza di creare una nuova sezione
rivolta al documentario nasce anche dall'attuale tendenza internazionale a
rivalutare l'impatto del film documentario sul pubblico e nell'ambito della
distribuzione commerciale. Il nuovo Concorso Documentari "Finestre sul
mondo" ha quindi l'obiettivo di promuovere la distribuzione in Italia di
documentari realizzati dai registi dei tre continenti.

6. DOPO-FESTIVAL DEL CINEMA AFRICANO AD ANCONA
********************************************************
Subito dopo la conclusione del festival milanese prenderà il via il
dopo-festival che questo anno coinvolge le città di Ancona, Roma e
Campobasso. Nel caso di Ancona esso avverrà nelle date 21-23 marzo 2005
presso il Cinemazzurro in via Tagliamento 39. Il programma è in via di
definizione ma, analogamente all'anno scorso, prevede sia la presenza di
registi che di un workshop che si terrà nel tardo pomeriggio sempre al
Cinemazzuro. Presto faremo circolare il programma definitivo del festival.

7. PASQUA IN ETIOPIA

Prosegue l'organizzazione del viaggio in Etiopia per l'imminente pasqua.
Alcuni di voi ci hanno scritto chiedendoci maggiori informazioni. Abbiamo
provveduto a rispondere a chi è stato possibile, dal momento che
l'intasamento di virus del nostro povero computer ci ha costretto a
formattarlo e quindi a perdere alcune email alle quali sfortunatamente non
avevamo dato risposta. Vi chiediamo dunque di (ri)scriverci mettendo
nell'oggetto: PASQUA IN ETIOPIA. Questa volta non ci saranno scuse.

8. CORSO DI FORMAZIONE SU DIRITTI UMANI, SVILUPPO E RESPONSABILITÀ SOCIALE

Amnesty International in collaborazione FormiN' organizzano un corso di
formazione su
Diritti umani, sviluppo e responsabilità sociale: il ruolo degli attori
economici. Il corso si terrà a nelle seguenti date: 17,22, 24 e 31 marzo
2005 presso il Centro di Formazione Internazionale FormiN' in Via Tibullo,

L'obiettivo del corso sarà l'approfondimento del rapporto tra diritti umani
e mondo economico con incontri specifici sulla responsabilità sociale, il
rischio aziendale per le imprese che operano in determinate aree
geografiche, l'organizzazione delle aziende, la cooperazione decentrata e
l'"alternativa" economica del fair trade.

9. DIRITTO DI VOTO IMMIGRATI AD ANCONA
********************************************
Insomma qualche cosa si muove! Pochi giorni fa la Giunta cittadina
presieduta dal Sindaco Fabio Sturani ha approvato una delibera che prevede
la concessione del diritto di voto degli immigrati ai consigli di
Circoscrizione, delibera che ora dovrà essere approvata dal Consiglio
comunale nel giro di qualche settimana. Si tratta senz'altro di un primo
passo positivo che va verso la direzione auspicata da parte delle
associazioni del terzo settore, degli immigrati e di tutti quelli che
credono che la convivenza con gli stranieri passi necessariamente attraverso
il riconoscimento di alcuni importanti diritti, fra cui quello di
partecipare alla decisione della scelta degli amministratori. Tuttavia, come
si diceva, si tratta di un primo passo importante ma non esaustivo poiché
molto c'è ancora da fare. Sotto questo profilo, infatti, un importante
traguardo sarà quello relativo alla concessione del diritto di voto alle
elezioni comunali. Da questo punto di vista la volontà politica del Sindaco
di Ancona, nonché responsabile all'interno dell'ANCI per le questioni
migratorie, appare sufficientemente chiara e orientata a lavorare perché in
tempi ragionevolmente rapidi si arrivi al conseguimento di tale obiettivo.

10. STUDENTI ITALIANI E STRANIERI
************************************
Gli studenti stranieri che frequentano le scuole superiori e le universita'
italiane danno la possibilità di far conoscere altre culture.

Questo il pensiero del 56% dei loro compagni di banco italiani. Il 19% degli
studenti italiani e' invece indifferente alla loro presenza in classe mentre
solo il 7% pensa che siano una minaccia all'identita' culturale italiana.

L'indagine è stata condotta tra dicembre 2004 e gennaio 2005 sul sito
"studenti.it" attraverso un campione di 4 mila studenti tra i 15 e i 25
anni.

In Italia sono 282mila gli studenti stranieri. La maggior parte di loro
(40%) frequenta la scuola primaria.
Nell'anno scolastico 1992/93 erano poco più di 30mila.

Nella classifica dei paesi di provenienza, in tutto 191, ai primi posti
troviamo Albania (49965 alunni, il 17,68% del totale ), Marocco (42126
14,90%), Romania (27627 77%), Cina (15610 5,52%) ed Equador (10674 3,78%).
Gli alunni provenienti dai dieci stati che a maggio dello scorso anno sono
entrati nell'Unione europea erano 5669, il 2% sul totale.
